Your Connection
Okay Zachary here we are again. Let me paint my picture for you. I felt we missed out on the free agency market during the summer pursuing Lebron, whom I personally felt we had little chance of getting (I turned out to be right). It seems that while we were concentrating on Lebron other teams were concentrating on players they had a chance to get that would greatly improve their team (Carlos Boozer I felt we had a chance to convince to come to Jersey).
Okay, now that Melo is out the picture (I hope), who do we go after with a little more than two weeks before the trade deadline? As the 24 second clock ticks down we only have one player who can create his own shot (Delvin). Who's in the mix to bring in that we can count on in crunch time?

Well first off, i am sorry that i did not reply to this earlier. We had a slew of games in a short span at the beginning of the month that took up too much of my time. Most apologies...
Of course with the recent changes to our roster, the response would be a little different now but i will do my best. I am disappointed in what LeBron did. I didn’t have faith he was coming here but to put us and other teams on as if we did have a chance was uncalled for. A phenomenal waste of money and time. As for guys like Boozer, we did offer him a contract and he was considering it. We weren’t going to give him max dollars however. Max dollars go to a player you are going to build around and Boozer isn't that guy.
At the beginning of the month, i would have said that we would go after Gerald Wallace or Andre Igudala. Turns out i would have been wrong and i am ok with that, lol. Deron Williams is a franchise changer, just like when we got Kidd 10 years ago. He makes other players better and his affect on Lopez, Morrow, Sasha and D.James will be tremendous.
I was a big Devin fan but he was a scoring PG. Deron will work well with our perimeter shooters and he is one of the best pick and roll PG’s in the league. This will help Brook reach the next level. Very pumped about where this franchise is heading and I look forward to seeing how Avery uses his new PG.
Permalink Reply by Thomas Hampton on February 24, 2011 at 8:33pm True, PG was not our problem, not having a star player who could attract other stars was and he had to get that by any means neccesary. True, not all the pieces are different than what Devin had, but Deron's presence on the court, makes those players oppertunites better. When Deron drives to the whole, the defence collapses. That doesn't happen with Devin. Also, Deron has the skill set to pass out of the double team and also drive and dish with the best of them. He is just another level of PG. He is top3...devin isn't top 10. THat upgrade will affect far more than just our play. Keeping up with the KNicks is important but i think we would have made this move regardless. Deron is marketable. We haven't played on primetime in 2 years. Since the trade, two of our games have been moved to ESPN or TNT.
Not much established in NJ. Plus, they were a NY team first. 2 consecutive...yes, consecutive years of making the finals and not selling out a game either year...If you were losing money at your job, even when all the signs pointed to you making a profit, wouldn't you make a move??
